Dr. Martin Luther King , Jr.
1929-1968
"We as a people will get to the promised land"
How many times have you seen a "Happy MLK Day" greeting card?
Well we here at Reflections of "Us" thought it would be remiss of us to acknowledge cupid, turkeys, and pumpkins and not pay homage to one of the most effective civil rights leaders in this nations's history.
So we created a simplistic, yet powerful greeting card that we think symbolizes and embodies one of the most important messages Dr. King wanted to convey to the world - PEACE.
In times of crisis, Dr. King never lost sight of his Dream nor his commitment to nonviolence, "Let no man drag you so low as to hate," he would say.
Along with a strong belief in the doctrine of Christianity, Dr. King held the teachings of nonviolence by Thoreau and Gandhi in high regard. He led nonviolent demonstrations for open housing, jobs and educational opportunities for Blacks across the nation. He also spoke out against the war in Vietnam and love for the oppressor while walking hand-n-hand with the poor and abused.
So we salute you Dr. King with the universally recognizable sign for PEACE and we dedicate this greeting card to you, your legacy and your Dream.
