Helpful  Hints to Simplify  Card Sending.
From the Book "Finding the Right Words" by J. Beverly Daniel

Here are some helpful hints to help you organize and simplify the task of  sending greeting cards. The Failure to Remember

  • Get a Calender and fill in all the names, birthdays, and other dates you wish to remember for all your family and friends, including Anniversaries, Valentine's Day, Graduations etc.

  • Pick and pencil in random dates every 2 months  to send Encouragement and Thinking of You cards to old college roomates, favorites aunts, and /or close friends who are "going through."

  • In your purse, keep a copy of the fill-in monthly Calender pages or your address book with the dates penciled in.

  • Purchase all the cards you will need  for each month of the year at least a month in advance.  Since you will be carrying the dates with you at all times, you can easily refer to your list anytime you're in a bookstore, card shop, or of course browsing our website.

  • Once you've purchased the cards, write the mailing date in the stamp corner of the envelope.  After you've stamped the envelope, the date will be covered and out of sight.

  • Put Post-it notes with the names of the recipient on each of the cards.

  • Put a shiney sticker on your calender on the days that cards are due to be mailed.

  • Be prepared to send an unexpected card by buying and keeping a stash of ROU Blank Greeting Cards and/or an Assortment Box of our cards.

  • Always date the inside of the card, so in later years the recipient will know when it was sent.

Why Should I Send A Greeting Card?
by Robin McNeil

Mail

Do you remember the last time you received a greeting card in the mail?

There you were shuffling through stacks of bills, flyers, advertisements and credit card applications mentally bemoaning the task of organizing all that junk... when there it was! You almost missed it! Wedged between the grocery sales paper and the value pack coupons, nestled a stiff colorful envelope with your name handwritten in the lower right hand corner. The look, size and shape of it screamed.... Greeting Card!

Before you can even think to pretend like it's no big deal, you quickly pluck it away from the rest of the mail for surely to leave it there would contaminate it somehow - make it disappear leaving you deflated and disappointed beyond belief.  Because by now your thoughts have sprouted wings and have taken flight, elevating to the high glorious clouds of excitement and anticipation.

With each question your heart soars higher and higher... Who is it from? Why...It's not my birthday? What will it say? Will it hold a picture, a small gift, a check?

Finally, you barely reach the secret confines of your four walls, shamelessly stepping on the other mail that had fallen to the ground when you haphazardly stuffed it under your armpit, when you eagerly begin to examine the wondrous envelope once again to ensure it is what it is. And "Yes!" your eyes confirm  "It is what it is!"

Just before you slip your shaky finger under it's flap, you take a deep breath exhaling gently, no longer trying to suppress a silly grin that has spread like butter across your face.

As you settle down into your favorite chair, you blissfully decide to come to terms with the fact that someones simple gesture of kindness has made you feel quite special and to relish in the unadulterated and unabashed joy of receiving a .5 ounce piece of folded, pressed and processed wood called a greeting card.

So you ask the question "Why should I send a greeting card?"   Because.... you know how good it feels when you get one.
